Building Advanced Resident Support Tools With Privacy at the Core

Privacy isn’t a feature, it’s the foundation.

Why Privacy Matters More Than Ever

Today’s in-room systems in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and memory care units often rely on a simple setup: a camera streams a live feed to a backend system connected to the internet.

This exposes deeply personal moments to unnecessary risk. Live video can be intercepted, mishandled, or stored in insecure environments. And because these systems were not designed with privacy as a north star, the burden falls on facilities and families to hope the technology behaves safely.

Our fall-anonymization clips are designed to be fail-safe. Even if the underlying network encounters an issue, no faces, personal details, or identifiable objects (like photos on a wall) are ever exposed. In the rare worst case, the clip may simply appear more blurred, but it will never reveal a resident’s identity.

By contrast, alternative approaches, such as stick-figure overlays or blurring faces are not currently fail-safe. If these models encounter a network issue, the anonymization can fail with it, causing sensitive details to remain visible.

This is a structural problem. One that Teton set out to solve differently.

Our Philosophy: Privacy First

After four years of working inside real care communities, we rebuilt the entire foundation of how a room-based support system should work. To deliver high-value clinical insights without ever exposing the resident, we had to rethink the architecture from sensor to server.

The result is a system that provides caregivers continuous clarity while ensuring that no personal data can ever leave the resident’s room.

Teton’s Zero-Transfer Security Architecture

1. Ceiling-Mounted Sensor (No Internet Pathway)

  • Our custom sensor connects only to a built-in local switch.
  • It has no router, no gateway, and no physical path to the internet.
  • Raw images never leave the room.
  • The sensor sends data over a hardline directly to the local compute unit.

2. Local Compute With Immediate Anonymization

  • The compute unit converts the room into a privacy-preserving digital overlay.
  • All personally identifying details are removed before any analysis occurs.
  • What remains is a structured representation of movement and posture accurate enough to detect falls, risk events, and early health changes, without exposing the individual.

3. Secure Analysis Without Identity

  • Only anonymized data is transmitted to Teton’s servers for event detection and predictive insights.
  • This enables caregivers to receive real-time alerts while ensuring no identifiable imagery is ever accessible outside the room.

What This Means for Residents, Families, and Communities

Because the system is physically incapable of sending personal images anywhere, residents remain fully protected. Families can feel confident that care teams gain better visibility and faster response times without compromising dignity, privacy, or trust.

Teton shows that it’s possible to deliver world-class support while preserving the privacy every person deserves.

About Teton

The Teton platform transforms care from reactive to predictive through human-centered AI and computer vision. Using a proprietary sensor system and an intuitive caregiver application, it provides real-time visibility into every resident room. The system passively observes, interprets, and anticipates care needs, alerting teams to potential health or safety concerns before incidents occur. Fully compliant with U.S. HIPAA privacy standards, Teton One enables a new era of predictive, data-driven caregiving.

  • Incident Response Time: Proven to reduce response times. European deployments have achieved up to an 83% decrease in fall-related incidents.
  • Early Health Indicators: Detects subtle changes in health and fall risks before problems arise.
  • Enhanced Care Delivery: Enables staff to devote more time to direct resident care.
  • Higher Staff Satisfaction: Streamlined workflows reduce administrative load and workplace stress.
  • Peace of Mind: Families and residents gain confidence from constant oversight and rapid response.

Founded in Denmark with operations across the United States and Europe, Teton.ai is leading a fundamental shift in healthcare, delivering higher-quality care, improving operational efficiency, and making exceptional care affordable and accessible for all.
