Over 192 live days across two of the operator’s homes, Teton was tested against the question every operator asks of new technology: does it make residents measurably safer, does it give time back to carers, and does it pay for itself? On all three counts, the pilot returned clear, independently-assessed evidence.

The strongest signal came at night. Unwitnessed falls — the events that go undetected between rounds — fell sharply at Home A, while the time taken to reach a resident after a fall collapsed from up to three-quarters of an hour to around a minute.

Underneath those headlines, digital checks quietly replaced thousands of intrusive physical room visits — and carers, residents and relatives all became advocates for the system.

The operator stakes

A fall no one sees is the hardest event in care to manage.

An unwitnessed fall is discovered late, reconstructed from memory, and followed by hours of administration — all while the resident waits for help that should have come in seconds.

Traditional mitigation leans on two blunt instruments: frequent physical night checks, and paperwork after the fact. The first disrupts residents’ sleep and pulls carers away from person-centred care; the second consumes clinical and leadership time no community has to spare. Neither tells you what actually happened. The pilot set out to test whether continuous, privacy-first observation could change that equation.

Time redeployed to care, not removed.

The pilot did not cut staffing. It changed how the night was spent. Digital checks replaced intrusive physical rounds, so visits became fewer but longer — and the time saved went back into direct, person-centred care and oversight.

Routine visits fell while the time spent on each visit rose — the signature of interruptions replaced by intention, with Teton embedded into every handover at both homes.

Both home managers said they would keep it even if their own pay depended on delivering breakeven.
